Join WASL in supporting Berni & Murcer - Friends for Life as we raise funds to support the "Comfort Backpack Program" for children diagnosed with cancer.
The Weston Adult Soccer League (WASL) in Weston, Connecticut, is a recreational group that provides a platform for adult soccer players to engage in the sport they love while extending a helping hand to our community. Inspired by our motto 'Do Something Good Today', WASL organizes various soccer events, fundraising for the people in need while partnering with non-profits in our area. With players of varying skill levels, the league hosts regular games and fosters a welcoming, social atmosphere for all members. The 2025 WASL Annual Memorial Day Charity Soccer Tournament will be played on Sunday, May 25th on Weston High School's Lower Turf Field. Feel free to come support!
Berni & Murcer – Friends for Life provides emotional support, comfort, inspiration, and encouragement to children (and their families) with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses at all stages of their journeys to get well—from the treatment phase, to recovery, to wellness maintenance and the child’s re-entry into the community through its therapeutic Comfort Backpack program. The Berni & Murcer Comfort Backpack Program is dedicated to bring a ray of hope and joy into the lives of these precious children by delivering specially curated Comfort Backpacks (with input from medical professionals and families impacted by cancer) filled with unique items such as the Berni Therapeutic Plush Companion, the Murcer Chemo Bag Cover, The Adventures of Berni & Murcer Storybook, writing journal, activity books, etc., to help brighten their days and provide a sense of childhood normalcy. Each backpack is a reminder that they are not alone in this fight and that there is a community of caring individuals cheering them on! These specialized backpacks are distributed free of charge to children and their families upon diagnosis at children's hospitals through Child Life Specialists and through other avenues such as camps and schools. By supporting Berni & Murcer, you contribute to the larger cause of improving the lives of children with cancer!

The Berni & Murcer - Friends for Life Team is filled with gratitude and delight in announcing our new partnership with Kids Helping Kids of Stamford, CT.! Children in Berni & Murcer's program will be the recipients of KHK Notes of Hope for 2021. This remarkable group of KHK volunteers have been busy all year making beautiful and uplifting cards for children undergoing cancer treatments and we're very excited about our partnership on future projects!
You can change the world by becoming an important part of a child's healing journey following a cancer diagnosis by joining Berni & Murcer - with your Notes of Hope! Every child in Berni & Murcer’s program receives a “Comfort Backpack” filled with Berni & Murcer – Friends for LifeTM items developed with input from child psychologists, educators and medical professionals, created not just to entertain and distract the child from what they’re going through—but to comfort them, inspire them, and give them hope. The "Comfort Backpack" includes a soft and cuddly, plush Bernese Mountain Dog (Berni) companion who wears a special vest. This vest has a specially designed pouch just for KHK's Notes of Hope! Their custom designs and inspirational messages will now be placed in these pouches when a child is receiving a treatment, getting a test done, or just needs a little reminder that they are strong! These messages and fun illustrations will help those battling cancer remember they are strong and that they are not alone!
